It is only through the kindness and generosity of our supporters that we can continue to provide information and support to the 70,000 women and families affected by this potentially devastating pregnancy condition every year.

With so many charities competing to get funds for equally deserving causes, it is more important than ever to remember APEC.

Every pound that you give is put to good use:

£10 mails 50 midwives with information about APEC and pre-eclampsia.

£25 pays the print bill for 40 copies of our 20-page members' newsletter.

£100 trains a volunteer to provide family support.

£250 pays the rent on the room which houses our telephone helpline for five weeks.

Friends of Action on Pre-eclampsia
Why not become a Friend of Action on Pre-eclampsia? This is a great way of supporting the organisation and its work and is ideal for grandparents, relatives and friends of people who have been affected by pre-eclampsia. It is also a great way of continuing to support the organisation if you have been a member for a number of years and now feel that it is time to move on. As a Friend of Action on Pre-eclampsia, you'll receive an annual update on the work of the organisation as well as email updates as and when you would like them. Becoming a Friend of Action on Pre-eclampsia and donating on a regular basis allows the organisation to plan ahead and make sure that we continue to provide vital services for women and their families who have been affected by pre-eclampsia.

Regular giving
If you set up a standing order with your bank for a regular sum each month, we know that we can rely on a regular income across the year and budget our activities, such as family support days, accordingly.

All you need to do is print out the standing order form (pdf version), complete each section and return it to us. Don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box to allow us to reclaim the tax paid on your donation. For every pound that you donate to us, we can re-claim 28p, as long as you have paid income or capital gains tax (in the UK) equal to the tax that will be claimed.

Payroll
Payroll giving is one of the most efficient ways to give to Action on Pre-Eclampsia. It's simple, quick and tax-free. Charities in the UK receive over £50 million each year through give as you earn.

This means that if you decide to donate £10 to us every month, if you pay tax at the basic rate, only £7.80 will be taken from your gross pay. The tax man then makes up the difference, and we receive the full ten pounds automatically. If you pay tax at the higher rate, it will cost you only £6.

Many companies now offer match-funding if you give as you earn. Why not suggest that your company does the same? Or that they adopt us as their charity of the year? Perhaps you could nominate us to your charity committee.

Legacies
No one likes to think about dying or having to make a Will, particularly those of us who are involved in APEC and may have lost a baby or someone else that we love due to pre-eclampsia. However, if a Will is properly organised, it is the one way that we can be sure that our family and those that we care about the most are taken care of after our deaths.

We often hear from supporters who wish that they could give more to Action on Pre-Eclampsia, but simply do not have the resources to at that time. Remembering APEC in your Will allows you to donate and help to continue the work that we do in preventing future suffering. It will mean that we can continue to provide information and support to the 70,000 families affected by pre-eclampsia every year, many of whom will have suffered the tragic loss of a baby, or in some cases, the mother herself.
